Fall

Spring and fall are similar, both are good times to plant.  There are many plants that are fall crops.  Our family incorporates gardening into our homeschool day.  Spending time in the field with the kids, walking behind the tiller, planting and watering for the fall crop these thoughts came to mind.

Fall Planting

Preparing soil for autumn crops,
Tilling, raking, hoeing
Metal tines spin, moving across anxious earth
waiting to welcome seeds,
The hopeful sower anticipates new life from dormant
Seeds that eventually spring upward.
Unseen germination, cotyledons, roots that grow and spread
Bursting through the warm earthen cover
New plants, new crops, new life!
“Rejoice, you people of Jerusalem! Rejoice in the Lord your God! For the rain he sends demonstrates his faithfulness. Once more the autumn rains will come, as well as the rains of spring.” Joel 2:23 (NLT)
