Thankfulness

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday; it’s one of my favorites.  I love the history, the biblical emphasis, and purpose of the holiday. Thanksgiving hymns are sung, For All The Blessings Of The Year, Come Ye Thankful People Come, We Gather Together, and Count Your Blessings are among my favorites.  Scriptures that especially remind us of the need to give thanks with a grateful heart.  There are many material things for which I am thankful, but the spiritual ones far outweigh them.

It is always important to give thanks to God.  The bible clearly directs us to express thanks and we are reminded when we read the account of the ten lepers who were cleansed by Jesus and only one returned to thank Him.  I thank you God for supplying our need according to your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Thank you God for the gift of salvation that was purchased by Your only Son and made available to us so that we may receive it by grace through faith.Thank you God that there is no work or deed we can do to earn your favor or a place in Heaven. Thank you that we can be born again into Your kingdom by placing our trust in the work of your Son, Jesus. Thank You for mercy and the forgiveness of sin given to those who confess with our mouths the Lord Jesus , and believe in our hearts that Christ is risen from the dead. What marvelous things You have given us to be thankful for everyday!

give thanks

Titus 3:4 But—“When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, 5 he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. 6 He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. 7 Because of his grace he declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.”

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and discovered something to thank God for.
