Family Visit to Windy Hill Orchard

One of our family’s favorite home school field trips became one of our favorite places to continue to visit; Windy Hill Orchard.  Our first visit was for our home school group, our later visits were family fun trips.  Today we returned to Windy Hill Orchard  to introduce it to Candace’s husband David, their daughter (Isabel) his parents (David & Gloria), sister (Daniela) and nephew (RJ) and a new family friend (Danielle).

This visit to the orchard took more coordinating than for previous visits because three of our children no longer live in our home.  We drove to Orangeburg to get Byron.  Candace and David live in Orangeburg but were in Greer for the weekend.  Meagan and Danielle live in Taylors. So there was s three car caravan from the Greenville area and us from the Lowcountry.  We met at the orchard and had a splendid time of fellowship not to mention the Apple cider doughnuts, fried apple pies, apple slush, cider and other all together wonderful apple products available at the stand.

A special treat was the Johnny Appleseed Educational Tour that begins with a great story time about the life of Johnny Appleseed including his love for God and the bible.
We enjoyed the hay ride through the orchard, selecting apples, apple cider sippers and apple cider doughnut that were a part of the tour.
Following the tour we settled down at picnic tables go talk, eat and play Phase Ten.  We had a wonderful time!  Our tradition has been shared and we are looking forward to the next fall family fellowship at Windy Hill Orchard and Cider Mill.
